You're ready to redesign your home - the layout is crazy, the lack of organization has become a safety hazard and the wall color was the prior homeowner's choice. But, the process of achieving your dream home is overwhelming. Should you move the couch or the wall? Get a new rug or install shiplap? What exactly is shiplap?! That's where we come in. Whether you need a full-scale renovation or an inspired room makeover, the Gray Oak Studio team is ready for your challenge. We will simplify and streamline the process as we inform your decisions and guide your path to a beautifully curated, functional home that you truly love. (We can even define shiplap, if you're interested)

WE CURRENTLY OFFER TWO DESIGN PACKAGES

The details of each are below. We’re also happy to talk through your project and make a recommendation. Please fill out our online inquiry form and we will schedule a call.

FULL SERVICE INTERIOR DESIGN

Our full service interior design package begins with design concept and ends with the installation of every last accessory - we handle it all. The finished room will be beautiful, elevated and truly complete. And, it will function for the specific needs of your family. The projects you see in our portfolio are the result of full service interior design packages.

Here’s how it works:

Getting to Know You - As soon as your deposit ($300) is paid, we schedule your initial meeting and send you a new client questionnaire. It is fundamental to our process that we spend time upfront learning about your aesthetic, function goals and what generally makes your family happy. We want to create your favorite place and the best (and only) way to deliver that is to truly get to know the people who will live there.

Initial Meeting - We start with a face-to-face meeting where we dive deeper into your project goals and your overall vision for the transformation. We take photographs of the existing spaces and lots of measurements, and even begin the creative process...because we can't help ourselves! We'll also answer all your questions about interior design in general and our unique approach to creating favorite places.

The Big Picture Concept - Next up, we develop our big picture ideas for your project (layout, color story, subcontracted projects, etc.). A great tool for this part of the project is Pinterest. We collaborate on Pinterest boards to share ideas and inspiration.

Creative Presentation - We use all the information we’ve gathered through your questionnaire answers, our meeting and emails and phone conversations, and our shared Pinterest board to design a plan that is elevated, beautiful and tailor made for your family. Each and every detail for your transformation is considered. We present our creative plan during an onsite meeting: the layout (3D renderings), the individual elements (2D renderings and tear sheets) and relevant samples (fabric, tile, etc.). We'll have a plan for everything - from wall color to cabinet knobs - and we'll lay it all out in a comprehensive and tangible presentation.

Edits - You may want to change some element of our design plan. We include one round of edits in our flat design fee. We’ll listen to all your feedback to make sure we thoroughly understand anything that missed the mark. We’ll present a revised plan via email with updated renderings.

Purchasing - Once you approve our plan, it's time to purchase everything. We handle all the purchasing, from sofas to tea candles. We track down out of stock items (we’re besties with customer service). We take care of any hiccups that arise, like furniture damage and delivery issues.

Subcontractor Execution* - Some projects will involve subcontractors (i.e. electrician, painter, carpenter, etc.). We want to make sure our design is executed perfectly, and this means precursory design meetings with all subcontractors and onsite visits when their work is executed.

Furniture Delivery - When all furnishings are received by our warehouse, we schedule a furniture delivery day. We come onsite to oversee the delivery and placement of every item into the space.

Install Day - Shortly after furniture delivery, we come back with all the decor treasures that will complete the space and make it truly yours. This is when the real magic happens. We spend an entire day in the space fine tuning the layout and accessorizing each corner and vignette.

Last up - Enjoy!

Cost - The design fee for a full service project starts at $5,000 and varies based on the unique scope. We also have material expenditure minimums based on the nature room (i.e. living room, office, bedroom, etc.).

*Please note: We are not contractors. We work with subcontractors to oversee the “design” element of the project only, and we do not produce permitted construction documents.

DESIGNER FOR A DAY

This package offers design guidance, support and advice to clients embarking on their own design project. The process includes:

Pre-Consultation Questionnaire - When your date is booked (and deposit paid) we will send you a shared document with some basic questions about your style preferences and project goals. This is a space to tell us more about your project and your goals, both aesthetic and function. You can add a Pinterest link (don’t worry if you don’t have one) and images you love directly into the document. This helps us prepare for our onsite conversation and understand what, if any, materials to bring (i.e wallpaper samples, paint samples, etc.).

1 Hour of Onsite Consultation - Leah will come onsite for 1 hour to tackle as much of your list as possible, starting at the top. It will be a brainstorming session packed with ideas and inspiration to conquer all your design pain points. She’ll have A LOT to say, so be sure to have your notebook and pencil ready. Because this is a time based service, it is also important to prioritize your questions (and projects).

1 Hour of Studio Time (creation of follow-up notes) - After the onsite, Leah will devote 1 hour to answering questions and further illustrating her ideas through layout drawings, design boards, source links, inspirational images, etc. We get asked a lot if it’s possible to follow-up on the notes for more feedback…and unfortunately it’s not. BUT, you can always book another Designer for a Day package!

Good Fit Projects - This is a general consultation and perfect for someone who is struggling with layout questions, getting ready for a renovation, or wanting ideas to “finish” a room (window treatments, decor, art, all the extras that complete a space). The team will not provide specific sources for furniture (i.e. 84” Addison sofa from Pottery Barn in heathered gray performance fabric). Rather, this is a general consultation where ideas are exchanged and shopping sources are provided, so that you can find the best furnishings for your space/style/family. Our goal is for you to walk away feeling enlightened, energized and confident to take the next steps to transform your space. It’s a DIY package - we provide the ideas, you take those ideas and make them a reality.

Cost - $650 ($300 deposit required to schedule, balance paid upon delivery of follow-up notes)

“The reference they created for us was truly comprehensive and included everything from the large (flooring, wall color) to the small (lighting ideas, grout colors, window treatments, you name it). I have returned again and again to their list and am excited all over again every time I read through it. I really reached out to them because I knew what I wanted the space to offer and I know what I like onsite, but I had no clue how to find those things in practice, and because I loved their aesthetic. However, what they offered was so much more! This was altogether a wonderful experience for them and I would use them again not only for a consultation, but also for a full service project. They were great to work with on all levels.
